I’m the most surprised of anyone

Well I am quite impressed with myself (really, this doesn’t take much effort).
This photo does not depict a day where I was impressed with myself. However…
Mention of next weekend’s New York Marathon triggered flashbacks of last year’s race. Specifically it summoned the tragicomic misadventures (well, mostly tragic) of Blair and I racing through Central Park during the marathon in search of our fellow running pal Shelly.  I won’t recount the eternity of blind panic endured as we waited for the wrong train in New York’s underground, or the near-ass kicking of Blair by some unbalanced New York subway rider- let’s just suffice in saying that the weekend didn’t exactly go as expected
Why am I mentioning all of this again? Well for one, it is kinda funny in retrospect. But additionally, as I reflect on my short stint of running glory I realize that this time of year was also documented in my very first blog entry.
You know what that means? That’s right: ça fait un an déjà!

One year of blogging, and I feel like I have eclipsed my well-fortified laziness in some small respect. While I won’t pretend to believe that I’ll do all of my homework for this master’s program, I’ll admit that I enjoy writing in this little time waster immensely. Even if it’s only my excellent family checking in to see if I have posted anything, I’m glad I gave this blog business a shot (blog, by the way, really is a dumb word that should be retracted from our vernacular).

I can’t make any promises about the year to come, but as I stated at the top of this entry, I am impressed with myself for keeping it up this long.
That girl next to Waving Katie who is wearing the Navy shirt? That’s not me, that’s a short Korean-American girl who’s about to PR at the Army Ten Miler. Another story for another time.
And by the way, I’m totally setting my sights on a new race goal. The ensuing misadventures are just too easy to write about, and you all know I love to blog about running.
Thanks for reading!
