Vol de Nuit

I’ve got lots of expertise in this area, so let me assure you that the best way to wake up feeling super salinated and averse to exercise is to spend the night previous eating raclette and drinking wine with good people. Who cares if I’m flying to another continent the following day- packing by this stage is about as second nature as sleeping. Actually, sleeping has gotten a bit harder over the years, but I digress…

No Cheez-Its and peanut butter required, packing for this trip is easy. Just as long as I don’t forget my sneakers!
  

Packing!  The photo up above shows my morning’s minor disarray, which was taken shortly before I must head out and for hop on the Orlybus. I don’t need to reaffirm my love of travel, but in reference to my mildly bacchanalian evening of “meaningful” (everything seems meaningful when you add alcohol) conversation, I think it’s important to continually return to the things that are inspiring.  And that’s why I am super excited to head back to the airport and subject myself to security checkpoints that may or may not deem my carry-on’s contents a threat to international airspace. I’m talking about the packages of tofu and tempeh, in this particular case.

The world’s a beautiful place, and while I don’t like to do repeat travel to the same place- some are so incredibly amazing that they warrant return visits. Multiple times.  Like Morocco.

For the next few days I’ll be cruising around with fellow Olmsted Scholars like this one- and while I have much admiration for her skills in the Arabic language, I look forward to all of us sitting around and trading good stories in English. No raclette to feast on in Morocco, but I do know that the food will be amazing. And the wine isn’t bad either.

It would appear that I’m making a life’s work out of testing the morning after effects of various food and drink combinations throughout the world.
I think you call that cultural enrichment.
